About
This website was created over a number of weeks during the summer season of 2007. It was officially “launched” in September.
The name, Obiter Dictum, means the following:
An opinion voiced by a judge that has only incidental bearing on the case in question and is therefore not binding.
It is, technically, a legal term; however, I felt it was approprate for a review site because I believe that reviews should not be taken too seriously. Too often do people receive reviews from review websites and change every single thing that particular reviewer asked them to change. Then, later, they overhaul their entire site, unhappy with all the changes they’ve made, into something with which they are much more comfortable. I have always and will always believe that a personal website must be satisfactory to the designer/creator for it to be successful. It is nice to get comments from reviewers or visitors every now and again; however, the only way to continually enjoy contributing to that website and creating new fun things to put on it is if you yourself enjoy it.
I’ve said this several times in my articles: You are probably the person visiting your website the most. Make sure you’re happy with it.
My purpose as your reviewer is to “pass judgment” - to tell you what I like/dislike about your website and what I feel could be changed to make a more aesthetically pleasing layout, or to make your visitors more happy with your content. However, I am only offering my opinion, and it is not necessary for you to actually make any changes after your review is done.
